Junior Membership FAQ

Thank you for getting in touch about hockey at Guildford Hockey Club - we would be delighted to welcome your son and daughter!
Whilst the regular season restarts in September, we have summer hockey going on now and a full set of camps over the school holidays.

Please note these are 2025/26 season charges and will be updated once the new season's fees are agreed later this summer at the AGM.

Summer camps during the Summer holidays

Designed and led by Double Olympian Dan Fox, at Guildford Hockey Club, our Junior Hockey Camps are aimed at school aged children (Reception to Year 11) and for both
experienced and new to hockey players. A list of dates for our up and coming hockey camps can be found here https://www.guildfordhockeyclub.co.uk/camps

This July and August there are dates throughout the Surrey School Summer holidays.

Hockey season 2026/27

The regular season begins in September. The training times for each age group can be found here: https://www.guildfordhockeyclub.co.uk/girls

Matches take place on Sundays; start times vary by age group, with the youngest age groups typically playing earlier in the day.

Once you register on Teamo all events will appear in your own tailored calendar.

Age groups are worked out by the age of a player on the 1st September each year. Our youngest Mixed U8 group include children in Reception and Year 1.

FAQ

  • Do you operate a waiting list? Currently there is no waiting list.
  • What do I need to bring? A stick, shin pads, mouthguard, drink, and
    appropriate clothing for any(!) weather. We have some sticks to lend to starters.
  • Where are the venues? All directions to the venues are listed in Teamo. Our home address is Guildford Hockey Club, Broadwater School, GU7 3BW.
  • Who are the coaches? We have over 130 people involved in coaching junior players, including roughly 40 professional coaches. Each age  group has a lead coach and a lead manager who will be in touch frequently during the season. All messages will be via Teamo.
  • How do you select teams / group players? We aim to provide ‘Great Hockey for Everyone’ which means providing a balance of fun, engaging hockey for each player with an appropriate balance of stretch and challenge. This looks like some blended learning with players of different levels of experience,
    and some grouping of players with similar levels of experience. Each age group finds the best way to do this over the course of the season and the age
    group-leads will talk parents and players through their approach.
  • Do junior players join in with adult hockey? From the age of 12 junior players can start playing adult hockey. Once you are registered contact

  • How much is an annual subscription? Details for subscription charges are here https://www.guildfordhockeyclub.co.uk/membership.
